Dr. Dima Dandachi is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Missouri–Columbia, where she serves as Medical Director of the HIV Treatment and Prevention Program. She also serves as Medical Director of Columbia/Boone County Public Health & Human Services, Co-Director of the Scientific Working Group for the NIH-funded Center for AIDS Research at Washington University, and Lead Facilitator for HIV ECHO within the Missouri Telehealth Network.
She completed her fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and earned her Master of Public Health from the University of Texas. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases and is recognized as a Fellow of both the Infectious Diseases Society of America (FIDSA) and the American College of Physicians (FACP).
A clinician–investigator, Dr. Dandachi’s work is dedicated to advancing HIV prevention and treatment. She has served as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on numerous federally funded grants, investigator-initiated pharmaceutical studies, and industry-sponsored clinical trials. Her scholarship includes more than 50 publications in leading peer-reviewed journals, with contributions spanning implementation science, clinical trials, and public health interventions.
At MU, she holds leadership roles in medical education and research mentoring, guiding medical students, residents, fellows, and postdoctoral scholars who have gone on to competitive fellowships, academic research, and leadership roles in medicine. Her excellence in teaching and mentorship has been recognized through multiple awards, including the 2025 David & Kathy Morton Outstanding Faculty Educator Award, 2024 Outstanding Teaching Awards, and election to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. In recognition of her clinical and academic contributions, she was also named a Presidential Engagement Fellow for the University of Missouri System, an honor awarded to faculty who demonstrate excellence in research and the ability to translate science into meaningful impact for communities across Missouri.
