Dr. Ashish Bhargava is a board-certified Infectious Diseases specialist and Director of Research for the Division of Infectious Diseases at Henry Ford St. John Hospital in Detroit, MI. He is also an Associate Professor of Medicine at Wayne State University and Medical Director of the Thomas Mackey Research Center for Infectious Diseases.
He received his medical degree from Ravindra Nath Medical College in Udaipur, India, and completed his residency and fellowship training at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. He is actively involved in medical education, teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and serves on the Clinical Competency Committee of the Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program. A dedicated mentor, Dr. Bhargava guides trainees in developing clinical research manuscripts, many of which have led to presentations at national conferences and publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Bhargava has authored over 60 peer-reviewed articles and two book chapters. He has presented original research at regional and national scientific meetings and is deeply involved in clinical trials conducted through the Thomas Mackey Center. He currently leads a locally funded study investigating inflammatory markers in the upper and lower respiratory tracts of individuals with RSV and influenza infections, aiming to characterize host immune responses better and inform targeted prevention strategies. He has collaborated with regional investigators on CDC-supported research projects and is a contributing member of the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Collaborator Network.
