Jon Friedland is currently President-elect and Secretary General of the European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID). I am also Vice-President (Research & Innovation) at City St. George's, University of London. I serve on the Advisory Board of the UK Health Security Agency where I also chair the Science & Research Committee. A clinical academic in infectious diseases by training, my research team is focused on developing new host directed therapies for tuberculosis by understanding the mechanisms of acute and chronic tissue damage. I also have a long standing interests in migrant health (currently focused on stigma) and in the immunopathology of neurocyticercosis.
