Dr. Lindsey Hastings is a fourth-year, dual adult and pediatric infectious diseases fellow at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Children's of Alabama. A Louisville, Kentucky native, she completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Louisville and later medical school and Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residency training at the University of Kentucky. Inspired by her experiences caring for patients affected by the opioid syndemic at all ages and stages of life, her research focuses on exploring the role of medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) and other harm reduction measures in the prevention of perinatal acquisition of HIV, Hepatitis C, syphilis and other STIs in mother-infant dyads. Her other professional interests include general infectious diseases and medical education.
