Dr. Annette Regan, PhD, MPH is a perinatal and pediatric infectious disease epidemiologist with experience leading and implementing a program of epidemiologic research and public health practice. She has led over 140 published investigations, including studies specifically evaluating the epidemiology of pediatric infectious diseases and the safety and effectiveness of maternal and pediatric vaccines. Her research has led to the development of novel vaccine safety surveillance systems for pregnancy and epidemiological methods tailored for monitoring the safety and effectiveness of vaccines and other therapeutics using real world observational data.
Dr. Regan completed an MPH in epidemiology at the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University in 2006, and a PhD in infectious diseases at the University of Western Australia in 2016. She has previously worked as an epidemiologist for state and federal public health agencies, including the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the state health department in Western Australia. She has served as tenure-track and tenured faculty at the Texas A&M University School of Public Health and the University of San Francisco, where she continues to lecture on epidemiologic methods, infectious disease epidemiology, and reproductive health. She currently receives funding from the National Institutes of Health to evaluate the health effects of RSV vaccination during pregnancy, the epidemiology of SARS-CoV-2 and other respiratory virus infections among young children, and the safety and effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines during pregnancy.
