Dr. Edana Mann is an assistant professor and the Associate Clinical Director of the Emergency Department at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she leads efforts in clinical operations, quality improvement, and patient safety. She is a seasoned emergency physician with over 20 years of clinical experience and a track record of leadership in both academic and community hospital settings.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Mann served as Vice Chair of the Emergency Department at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center and as Clinical Director of the St. Agnes Healthcare Chest Pain Center. Throughout her career, she has chaired numerous quality and safety initiatives, including the Emergency Department Sepsis Taskforce at Franklin Square, and has spearheaded system-level improvements in sepsis and stroke care. Her work has focused on reducing time to antibiotic administration, optimizing clinical transitions, and standardizing evidence-based care pathways.
Dr. Mann also serves on the Board of Directors and as a Councillor for the Maryland Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). She is a peer reviewer for several emergency medicine journals and has published in Academic Emergency Medicine, Annals of Emergency Medicine, American Journal of Medical Quality, JACEP Open, and others.
Her academic and clinical interests focus on innovation in sepsis detection and management, including the application of emerging diagnostics and host-response assays to drive more precise, timely interventions. She also chairs the department’s Improved Clinical Efficiency Committee, which supports performance improvement across individual, team, and system levels.
