Dr. Rosie Mngqibisa (MBChB, PGDip HIVMan, MPH) is a senior clinician, public health professional, and Director of the Enhancing Care Foundation, a non-governmental organization involved in international research and development in infectious diseases, health systems strengthening, and capacity building. Dr. Mngqibisa earned her medical degree (MBChB) from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical HIV Management from the College of Medicine of South Africa, and a Master’s in Public Health (Epidemiology & Biostatistics) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
With over 15 years of experience in clinical care and research, Dr. Mngqibisa has served as a Principal Investigator (PI), National PI, and Sub-Investigator on numerous clinical trials. Her research focuses on optimizing HIV care across the lifespan, with a particular emphasis on women and adolescents in sub-Saharan Africa. Her scientific interests include: Evaluation of novel ART and TB therapeutics in African populations, Drug interactions between ART, TB medications, and contraceptives, Development of safe and effective ART regimens for pregnant and postpartum women, Understanding the impact of reproductive aging and menopause on HIV progression, cardiovascular and bone health, treatment adherence, and virologic outcomes
Dr. Mngqibisa currently serves as Chair ex officio of the Women’s Health Collaborative Science Group of the Advancing Clinical Therapeutics Globally (ACTG), and member of the of its Steering Committee and TB Working Group, Investigator on the Scientific Agenda Steering Committee of the ACTG.
Through these roles, Dr. Mngqibisa is committed to advancing equitable, evidence-based care in underserved communities, particularly within low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
