Mahlet Moges is a dedicated clinical pharmacy professional currently serving as a Clinical Case Team Coordinator at Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital under Addis Ababa University’s College of Health Sciences. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Haramaya University in 2016. Following her graduation, she worked for two years in Mizan Aman Hospital, serving rural communities in Ethiopia.
She later transferred to Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital, where she initially worked in the retail pharmacy division before advancing her career through postgraduate education. Sponsored by the School of Pharmacy, she completed her Master’s degree in Clinical Pharmacy in 2023. Since then, she has been actively involved in improving pharmaceutical care, with a strong focus on the clinical and economic impact
Mahlet has led efforts to minimize both direct and indirect medication costs through effective documentation and clinical presentations to hospital management. Her contributions, along with her team, have been nationally recognized—earning model site status from the Ethiopian Ministry of Health and leading to mentorship roles supporting rural hospitals.
She is certified in Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) at the CPD level and plays a central role in the AMS program at Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital, where she currently serves as the program’s secretary. She was instrumental in the establishment of the hospital’s AMS program and continues to contribute to its ongoing development.
In collaboration with colleagues from the University of North Carolina, she is an author of an abstract focused on optimizing Vancomycin dosing. This work was accepted for presentation at the prestigious ID Week Conference and supports the transition from conventional dosing practices to normogram-based approaches. Her team is currently working toward the implementation of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) for adult inpatients.
