Dr. Aninda Rahman is an epidemiologist and medical graduate with over 13 years of experience in antimicrobial resistance (AMR), infectious disease control, and public health. He is currently working as National Professional Officer (AMR) at the World Health Organization Bangladesh, where he coordinates national AMR activities, surveillance, and multisectoral One Health collaborations. Previously, he served as Deputy Program Manager (AMR, Hepatitis, and Diarrhoea Control) at the Communicable Disease Control, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Bangladesh, where he led the development of key national strategies, managed large program budgets, and oversaw policy dialogues and research collaborations.
Dr. Rahman completed his MBBS from Sir Salimullah Medical College and earned a Master of Epidemiology from the University of Queensland, Australia, where he received the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence. He is also a Fleming Fellow on AMR Surveillance under the UK government’s Fleming Fund. With more than 30 publications in peer-reviewed journals and extensive collaboration with international organizations including WHO, FAO, WOAH, UNEP, CDC, and leading universities, Dr. Rahman has a strong track record in research, policy development, and program implementation. He is passionate about strengthening public health systems and contributing to the global fight against communicable diseases through evidence-based strategies, surveillance, and stewardship.
