Maria Angélica Maya Restrepo, MD
Dr. Maya Restrepo is a specialist in infectious diseases with a background in internal medicine and general medicine from the University of Antioquia and Pontificia Bolivariana University. With over a decade of clinical and academic experience, her expertise lies in respiratory infections and the rational use of antibiotics. She has served as a researcher for the GRIPE group and currently coordinates projects at the One Health Genomic Laboratory at the National University of Colombia.
She is the former president of the Antioquia chapter of ACIN, a university lecturer, and a scientific advisor in public health. Her work seamlessly integrates clinical care, academic training, and research in diagnostics, respiratory infections, arboviruses, and sexually transmitted diseases. Recently, she has expanded her focus to include data science and the impact of communication and culture on the doctor-patient relationship and teamwork.
