Dr. Evelyn Villacorta Cari earned an MD degree from the National University of San Marcos in Lima, Peru.
She completed an Internal Medicine residency at the Daniel A. Carrion National Hospital in Callao, Peru, affiliated with the National University of San Marcos, and a fellowship in Infectious Diseases and HIV at the University of Kentucky. It's the Clinical Director of the HIV-focused Interprofessional Education Program, which was created to prepare future health care professionals in the delivery of quality health care to people with HIV/AIDS. This program brings together trainees from multiple health disciplines with community partners to develop collaborative, stigma-free care skills that enhance linkage to care, retention, and viral suppression outcomes.
