Octavio Ramilo is the Chair of the Department of Infectious Diseases at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis, TN, USA. He obtained his medical degree from the Universidad Complutense in Madrid, Spain. Dr. Ramilo completed his pediatric residency at the Hospital “12 de Octubre” in Madrid followed by a Pediatric Infectious Disease Fellowship and a postdoctoral research fellowship in Immunology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
He has been involved in translational and clinical research related to the role of the host immune response in the pathogenesis of infectious diseases for over 30 years. His current research is focused on the pathogenesis and treatment of respiratory infections, especially RSV, and the application of genomics and system analysis tools for improving diagnosis and understanding of host responses to infectious agents and vaccines.
