Cesar G. Berto, MD is an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at The University of Alabama at Birmingham and assistant medical director of the Immunocompromised Host Infectious Diseases Program. He graduated from Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima, Peru, and completed his fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. His clinical work is focused on the diagnosis and treatment of infections in immunocompromised patients while contributing to medical education in this field. His research centers on cell-mediated immunity assays in solid organ transplantation and the intersection of tropical infectious diseases with transplantation.
