James B. Wood, MD, MSCI, is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Indiana University School of Medicine and co-division chief of the Ryan White Center for Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Global Health. He completed his medical school training at Georgetown University School of Medicine and Pediatrics residency at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases and a Masters of Science in Clinical Investigation from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.
Dr. Wood's research is focused on the immune response, epidemiology and clinical care of children with Staphylococcus aureus infections, with a particular interest in musculoskeletal infections. His work involves investigating treatment anidentifying and understanding variables (both microbiologic and clinical) associated with severe disease and poor outcomes in children with musculoskeletal infections. His goal is to improve clinical care of patients with musculoskeletal infections, as well as the development and implementation of novel diagnostic, therapeutic and vaccine targets.
