William L Musick, PharmD, BCIDP has been with Houston Methodist Hospital for 14 years. He earned his PharmD from the University of Kentucky and joined the Methodist team after completing two years of post-doctoral residency training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dr. Musick is very dedicated to educating future pharmacists. He holds appointments as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor with the University of Houston and as a Clinical Instructor with the University of Texas at Austin. He serves as a preceptor for many pharmacy students from the two universities, and plays an active role in the HMH Pharmacy residency program – where he is the Director of the PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy residency.
Currently, Dr. Musick provides patient care in collaboration with the physicians of the Houston Methodist Specialty Physicians Group and specializes in the care of the critically ill and immunocompromised patient. He also serves various organizational roles at Methodist, including work with the Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee and Infection Control and Prevention. In addition to this, he was recently appointed to the Texas Dept. of State Health Services Healthcare Safety Advisory Committee.
During his tenure at Houston Methodist Hospital, Dr. Musick has played a large role in expanding the scope of pharmacy practice and research at Methodist and was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program. He is an active member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists, and the Houston Infectious Diseases Network.
