Valerie Morley is a Senior Scientist at Ginkgo Biosecurity. She is responsible for research and development related to wastewater surveillance for pathogens and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) genes. Ginkgo runs programs characterizing pathogens and resistomes from wastewater in agricultural, air travel, and healthcare settings globally. Prior to joining Ginkgo Biosecurity, Valerie conducted research on RNA virus evolution, AMR in healthcare settings, and self-amplifying RNA vaccines. During the COVID-19 emergency, she conducted SARS-CoV-2 genomic surveillance for the state of New Mexico. She completed her Ph.D. at Yale University and conducted postdoctoral research at the Pennsylvania State University Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics.
