Dr. Andrea Zimmer attended medical school at the University of Kansas. She completed her Internal Medicine residency and chief residency at the University of Florida. She then went to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, completing a fellowship in General Infectious Diseases followed by a Transplant Infectious Diseases fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She serves as Medical Director of the Oncology Infectious Diseases service line, Associate Vice Chair of Faculty Development, and directs the Microbiology/Infectious Diseases blocks in the UNMC medical school. She is on the leadership committee for the IDSA Immunocompromised Host Community of Practice and a member of the NCCN guidelines committee.
