Dr. Maribeth Nicholson is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. She completed her prior pediatric residency, gastroenterology fellowship, and Master’s of Public Health in Epidemiology at Vanderbilt. She has a clinical and research interest in C. difficile infections in children, with a particular focus on the intestinal microbiome and associated metabolites. She created the Pediatric Fecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT) program at Vanderbilt and established herself as an expert in the treatment of C. difficile infections. She is the co-PI on a multi-center consortium evaluating FMT in pediatric patients with recurrent C. difficile and received the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition (NASGPHAN) Young Faculty Clinical Investigator award for this work. She has had continuous NIH funding throughout her faculty appointment.
