Dr. Christine Lockowitz is a pediatric infectious diseases clinical pharmacy specialist at St. Louis Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She also serves as the Pharmacy Director of their Antimicrobial Stewardship Program. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy from St. Louis College of Pharmacy and subsequently completed a first-year pharmacy practice residency and second-year infectious diseases pharmacy residency at West Virginia University Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. Following the completion of her residency, Dr. Lockowitz initially served as an infectious diseases clinical pharmacist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and The James Cancer Hospital, focusing on the management of infections in immunocompromised hosts. Then in late 2020, she made the switch from adult to pediatric infectious diseases. Some of her clinical interests and ongoing research focus on dose optimization of antimicrobials in children, impact of antimicrobial use and resultant gut dysbiosis on outcomes in patients undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation, and implementation of diagnostic stewardship principles.
