Susan Bleasdale Casey, MD, FACP, FIDSA serves the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) as the Vice President and Chief of Quality and Safety. Dr. Casey is responsible for the oversight and executive management of all aspects of quality and patient safety for the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) Downtown and Midtown campuses in collaboration with UMMC and the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) senior leadership. Dr. Casey champions patient safety initiatives in close coordination and collaboration with all medical staff, nursing staff, trainees, pharmacy, and all supporting departments and be responsible for achieving measurable results and championing a culture of transparency, continuous quality improvement, and patient safety. Dr. Casey is an infectious disease physician that brings 25 years of professional medical experience in internal medicine and infectious diseases to UMMC.
