Kristen Wendorf attended the University of Michigan where she obtained a Medical Degree from the School of Medicine and a master’s degree in clinical research from the School of Public Health. She then came to UCSF where she completed her pediatrics residency with a focus on pediatric critical care and global health. After residency, she participated in the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s) Epidemic Intelligence Service where she served in communicable disease in the local public health department of Seattle & King County in Washington State. Following this, she worked in vaccine-preventable diseases at the California Department of Public Health with a focus on measles and pertussis outbreaks, treatment, and prevention. Since 2017, she has worked and specialized in tuberculosis treatment, prevention, and policy for the California Department of Public Health. Her focus includes pediatric tuberculosis and multi-drug-resistant tuberculosis, and she serves as a clinical consultant for the state of California as well as for CDC’s Curry International Center pediatric warmline. Her research has focused on treatment and prevention of tuberculosis among children and pregnant women as well as among people with multi-drug resistant tuberculosis.
