Dr. McCarty is an associate professor of medicine at the UAB Heersink School of Medicine in Birmingham, AL. He serves as the ID Fellowship Program Director as well as clinical faculty at UAB and the Birmingham VA Medical Center. His clinical interests range from General ID to Transplant and Immunocompromised ID. Research interests are predominantly clinical mycology, both epidemiology and clinical trials of new diagnostics and therapeutics. In addition to being the Fellowship PD, he is also a Learning Community faculty mentor with the medical school.
