Dr. Mirta Acuña, studied medicine at the University of Concepción, Chile. After that she studied Pediatric specialization and later specialization in Pediatric Infection Diseases, both specialties were made at the University of Chile. She holds a Magister of Public Health from the University of Chile.
She works in Roberto del Río Children’s Hospital, in Santiago, Chile, where she leads the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program. She is an advisor to the Ministry of Health and Metropolitan North Health Service on the antimicrobial stewardship, and is member of Antimicrobial and Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee of SOCHINF (Infectious Chilean Society), where she has participated in the organization of multiples courses and congresses.
Dr. Acuña is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Chile, Chile.
Her research is focused on the infections in children, diagnostic stewardship and antimicrobial stewardship. She has participated as Principal Investigator in pharmaceutical products related with vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, new antimicrobials in pediatric age.
