Dr. Mary Clare Masters is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Disease at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center. She is an infectious diseases physician whose research centers on functional outcomes among older people with HIV (PWH). Dr. Masters is a past recipient of a GEMSSTAR (Grants for Early Medical/Surgical Specialists’ Transition to Aging Research) award from the National Institute on Aging (NIA) in which she examined longitudinal relationship between cognitive and physical function in observational cohorts of older people with and without HIV. In her current NIA K23-funded research, Dr. Masters seeks to implement HIV clinic-based screening for impaired cognition and physical function among older PWH. She also has an interest in applied translational geroscience in the context of HIV. As such, she serves as co-chair of the AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG) A5426 study, which a is a pilot study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of dasatinib and quercetin in improving physical function outcomes to among older PWH.Â
