Dr. Tresa Zielinski is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP)in the department of Infectious Disease and is representing pediatric nurse practitioners on the Pediatric Pandemic Network and National Pediatric Readiness Project through the through the department of Health and Human Services Emergency Medical Service for Children Innovation and Improvement Center.
She was the first allied health representative on the medical executive committee at Lurie Children’s Hospital. She is a past president of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) and NAPNAP Partners. She has also served as the Communication Chair for NAPNAP national as well as Illinois chapter president.
She also served on the Emergency Nurse Association Advance Practice Council and still works periodically in the emergency department. She is currently on the Conference Planning Committee for NAPNAP to serve for the next 3 years 2023-2026.
In addition to this she has served as the Chair of the Alliance for Children in Trafficking for 2 years and is currently on the American Hospital Associations Human Trafficking Advisory Council. Dr. Zielinski was part of the NAPNAP Partners team that met with the Senate and House Committees to help educate and shape the SOAR bill and avid proponents for the SESTA bill.
She has presented extensively on a local, state and national levels on pediatric health care issues including common presentations to the emergency department, post-pandemic illnesses, febrile illnesses, pediatric kidney and cardiac disease as well as human trafficking. She has also served on more than a dozen medical missions to Guatemala and was the director of Nursing and Advanced Practice on the board of directors of the former not-for-profit, Latin American Medical Providers.
