Dr. Long is a critical care anesthesiologist at the University of Washington in Seattle. He attends clinically at Harborview Medical Center where he also serves as Co-Chair of the Surgical Site Infection Prevention Committee. In this role, he partners closely with infection prevention and control, antimicrobial stewardship, surgery, and nursing teams to improve infection prevention strategies in the OR and ICU across multiple UW hospitals. His research focuses on the role of the patient microbiome in surgical site infection and has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America, and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
