Dr. Jason Yang is an Assistant Professor and Chancellor Scholar at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in the Department of Microbiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics, and in the Center for Emerging and Re-Emerging Pathogens. Dr. Yang received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Virginia in 2012 and completed his postdoctoral training at MIT and the Broad Institute in 2019. He is an expert in antimicrobial resistance and systems biology. Dr. Yang now leads a multidisciplinary research program that uses systems and synthetic biology research program to addressing important challenges in antimicrobial resistance, tuberculosis, and immunoengineering. He is the recipient of a NIH K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award, the 2021 Agilent Early Career Professor Award, and the 2025 ASM Theobald Smith Society Young Investigator Award.
