Dr. Megan H. Pesch, MD, MS, is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Michigan Medical School and a developmental and behavioral pediatrician specializing in the care of children with neurodevelopmental differences, including those affected by congenital CMV. She directs the University of Michigan’s Congenital CMV Developmental Follow‑Up Clinic, where her clinical and research efforts focus on early detection, developmental outcomes, and family-centered care for children impacted by the virus. Dr. Pesch has published extensively on topics related to congenital CMV, including its association with autism spectrum disorder, fetal demise, and newborn hearing screening protocols. She is also a passionate advocate, serving as Executive Director of the National CMV Foundation, where she leads national efforts to increase awareness and expand newborn screening. Her work is deeply informed by her personal experience as the parent of a child with profound hearing loss caused by congenital CMV. This dual perspective—both clinical and personal—shapes her approach to supporting families through diagnosis and intervention. Dr. Pesch is committed to advancing equitable access to CMV education, testing, and care, ensuring families are empowered with knowledge and support.
