Dr. Michael Watson is a Clinical Associate Professor from the Divisions of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Pediatric Hospital Medicine at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He is originally from St. Louis, Missouri, and studied Medicine and Microbiology at the University of Missouri in Columbia, earning an M.D. and Ph.D. He completed residency training in Pediatrics at St. Louis Children's Hospital and stayed at Washington University for fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases. He has been a faculty member at the University of Michigan since 2013 where he currently serves as the Director of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program and the Assistant Director of Medical Student Education in the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Watson's research interests include improving the quality of medical education, and conducting research on bacterial infections affecting children, especially Group A Streptococcal infections. Dr. Watson is recognized for his contributions as an educator, collaborator, and clinician-scientist. His work continues to enhance pediatric infectious disease care and education at the University of Michigan and beyond.
