Deiziane Costa studies the mechanisms underlying neuroinflammation and gastrointestinal dysfunction following infection. She is a research scientist in Dr. Cirle Warren’s laboratory at the University of Virginia Division of Infectious Diseases & International Health. She earned her PhD and master's degree at the Federal University of Ceará in Brazil. She moved to the USA in 2017 as an exchange student at UVA, where she stayed to complete her postdoctoral training. Outside of the lab, she enjoys fishing, hiking, and playing volleyball.
