Mukesh Patel, MD (he/him/his)

Dr. Patel is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Section Chief of Infectious Diseases at the Birmingham VA Medical Center. He also serves as the Associate Program Director for the UAB Infectious Diseases Fellowship program. His primary roles are as a clinician who cares for patients living with HIV and patients with general infectious disease disorders across inpatient and outpatient settings, and as a clinical educator. Dr. Patel is extensively engaged in the preclinical education of medical students with course director roles in microbiology and also pulmonary medicine modules taught during the first year of medical school. In these roles he broad experience with curriculum development, teaching, and assessment strategies and is recognized as an outstanding educator in the medical school.
