Biography – Dr. Niral Patel, MD (Microbiology)
Introduction
Dr. Niral Patel is a dedicated Microbiologist, clinical researcher, and academician with a strong commitment to advancing diagnostic microbiology and infectious disease management. Currently serving as a Senior Resident in the Department of Microbiology at Smt. N.H.L. Municipal Medical College, Ahmedabad, affiliated with Gujarat University, she has cultivated expertise in medical microbiology, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance, fungal infections, and critical care microbiology.

Early Education and Medical Training
Dr. Patel completed her M.B.B.S. (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) from GCS Medical College under Gujarat University (2012–2018). Her exposure to a broad spectrum of medical disciplines during her undergraduate training fostered an early interest in infectious diseases and clinical diagnostics.
She is currently pursuing her M.D. in Microbiology (2022–2025) at Smt. N.H.L. Municipal Medical College, where she is deeply engaged in clinical microbiology research, diagnostic laboratory practices, and teaching.

1. Poster Presentations
Dr. Patel has presented multiple scientific posters at regional and national conferences, showcasing her commitment to clinical research and laboratory-based studies:
1. "Identification of Candida Species and Their Antifungal Susceptibility Pattern Isolated from Various Clinical Specimens at a Tertiary Care Hospital"
 Presented at MICROCON, Lucknow (2023).
 The study emphasized the significance of species-level identification of Candida and antifungal susceptibility profiling to guide targeted therapy.
2. "Study of Influenza Virus in Suspected Cases of Viral Pneumonitis at a Tertiary Care Hospital"
 Presented at CIDSCON, Chennai (2023).
 This work highlighted the role of early viral diagnostics in respiratory infections to reduce inappropriate antibiotic usage and improve patient outcomes.
3. "Identification and Antimicrobial Susceptibility Pattern of E. coli Isolated from Suspected Cases of UTI in a Tertiary Care Hospital"
 Presented at GAMMCON, Ahmedabad (2024).
 This study focused on the prevalence and resistance patterns of Escherichia coli in urinary tract infections, aiding clinicians in empirical antibiotic selection.

• "Inducible Clindamycin Resistance in MRSA & MSSA Isolates Among Various Clinical Specimens in a Tertiary Care Hospital"
 Presented at CME – Septicemia Update 2023, B.J. Medical College, Ahmedabad.
 The study addressed the prevalence of inducible resistance mechanisms in Staphylococcus aureus and implications for clindamycin use in clinical settings.

Academic & Teaching Experience
As a Senior Resident, Dr. Patel actively contributes to academic teaching and laboratory training of MBBS undergraduates, nursing and M.L.T. students, and paramedical staff. Her teaching approach integrates theoretical microbiology with practical laboratory applications, including culture techniques, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and infection control practices.
