Audrey Monson is a current first-year medical student at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before pursuing her Masters of Medical Sciences at Boston University. While attending Boston University, Audrey worked under Dr. David Leaf in the Leaf Lab at Brigham and Women's Hospital as a clinical research coordinator, where she was able to complete her thesis research in Babesia-associated acute kidney injury. Under the guidance of Dr. Leaf, this research became the multicenter cohort study of over 3,000 adults hospitalized with babesiosis at 83 sites across the northeastern US from 2010 to 2024 that is being presented this year at IDWeek. She remains undecided on a speciality but is interested in both Infectious Disease and Nephrology as her future career.
