Dr. Jana Dickter, MD is a board-certified infectious disease specialist with over 20 years of clinical experience. She earned her medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago, completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and pursued fellowship training in Infectious Diseases at the UCLA-affiliated program.
Dr. Dickter began her career at Kaiser Permanente, where she spent more than a decade building a robust HIV practice. In 2016, she joined the Division of Infectious Diseases at City Medical Center, where she was promoted to Clinical Professor in July 2023.
She currently serves as Director of the Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) Program and has been recognized for her leadership in antimicrobial stewardship. In 2021, the California Department of Public Health honored her development of a Best Practice Alert for Pneumocystis prophylaxis.
Dr. Dickter’s research interests include clinical trials and cancer treatment for people living with HIV. Her work also focuses on HIV management in patients undergoing chemotherapy or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, as well as viral infections and cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma.
She lives in the Los Angeles area with her husband and two children.
