My name is Mario Landa, and I am a Clinical Research Coordinator at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, affiliated with the Division of Infectious Diseases and the Smith Child Health Outcomes, Research and Evaluation Center. As a recent college graduate, I am committed to enhancing my research skills and applying them across various disciplines.
Currently, I work with Dr. William Muller on projects involving novel diagnostics for patients at risk of fungal infections, as well as identifying the epidemiology and risk factors for bloodstream and invasive fungal infections in pediatric solid organ transplant recipients. Additionally, I contribute to pediatric health research with Dr. Michelle Macy, focusing on car passenger safety and analyzing data from the TCBD clinical trial. TCBD is a study of an eHealth and motivational interviewing-based intervention designed to promote safe child passenger behaviors.
I am driven to pursue a combined MD/PhD degree, with a focus on the mechanisms of action and potential alternatives to antibiotics. My research interests include exploring bacteriophages and interspecific competition as innovative approaches in the field.
