Physician-scientist bioengineer with clinical subspecialty in infectious diseases and research focus on the development and validation of diagnostic technologies. The Damhorst lab is developing novel assays to characterize the host-pathogen interaction in Staphylococcus aureus bloodstream infections while supporting the activities and research of the Investigational Clinical Microbiology Core (ICMC) in the Department of Medicine, Emory Center for the Advancement of Diagnostics for a Just Society (ADJUST Center), and the Atlanta Center for Microsystems Engineered Point-of-Care Technologies (ACME POCT) primarily through the NIH Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics (RADx) initiative and related activities.
