Dr. Ginenus Fekadu is an accomplished Assistant Professor at Wollega University in Ethiopia and currently serves as a Visiting Fellow at the City University of Hong Kong, working under the mentorship of Prof. Wai Kit Ming. He earned his Ph.D. in Pharmacy from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and has completed a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in the Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health at the same institution.
With a robust background in pharmacotherapy, pharmacoepidemiology, and health economics, Dr. Fekadu's research primarily focuses on health technology assessment, particularly in the context of tuberculosis (TB) management. His innovative Ph.D. project on cost-effectiveness analyses of TB diagnostic and treatment strategies has attracted significant attention from clinicians and policymakers, including the World Health Organization’s TB program. He has published over 100 articles in prestigious international journals, with a notable h-index of 36 on Google Scholar, highlighting his influential contributions to the field.
In addition to his research, Dr. Fekadu is dedicated to education and mentoring, having taught and supervised undergraduate and postgraduate students for several years. He has presented his work at numerous international conferences, including the ISPOR and Global Young Scientists Summit, and actively participates in various professional organizations, such as the Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Association, the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research, and the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
Recognized for his exceptional contributions, Dr. Fekadu has received several prestigious awards, including the Ethiopian Pharmacy Association Gold Medal Award for Young Researcher of the Year in 2023.
