My name is Mayse Nasser, MD and I am a Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellow at Duke University Hospital.
My research focuses on optimizing the diagnosis and management of bloodstream infections in critically ill children, with a particular emphasis on the role of biomarkers such as C-reactive protein (CRP) and procalcitonin (PCT) in guiding postoperative infection surveillance.
In addition to my research on inflammatory biomarkers, I am actively involved in quality improvement initiatives in antimicrobial stewardship. My broader interests include zoonotic infections, pediatric sepsis, and the application of novel diagnostic strategies in resource-limited settings.
Looking ahead, my aim is to combine clinical care, research, and education to advance evidence-based management of pediatric infections and improve outcomes for vulnerable patient populations.
