Manuel Santiago Ordoñez Bastidas, Physician, Pediatrician, Fellow in Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Universidad del Valle, Cali - Colombia.
I was born in Popayán, a city of southwest in Colombia, with deep roots, affection, and a strong sense of belonging to its traditions, people, and community, I was trained at a public university, where I distinguished myself academically during my undergraduate and postgraduate studies, as well as through my role as a student leader. I am respectful of, and committed to, processes aimed at institutional, academic, and healthcare improvement. I currently volunteer in cultural activities, professional associations, patient advocacy groups, and in supporting local authorities on specific health-related issues.
I have served as a university professor, initially as a general practitioner teaching in the area of Semiotics between 2014 and 2015, and subsequently in the Department of Pediatrics at Universidad del Cauca from January 2020 to December 2023. My focus has been on maintaining and enhancing high-quality medical education by integrating information technologies with medical training, fostering a rational, proactive, research-oriented, and humanistic approach to the analysis and management of pediatric patients, always tailored to the specific needs and conditions of the Department of Cauca.
My subspecialty training in Pediatric Infectious Diseases aims to strengthen programs in health promotion and disease prevention, as well as diagnosis, rational use of medications and antibiotics, and the rehabilitation of children and adolescents affected by these conditions. Furthermore, I actively support other pediatric subspecialties within an interdisciplinary framework. I hold a strong interest in continuing to contribute to the advancement of university-level medical education.
