Dr. Gazi Md. Salahuddin Mamun, MBBS, MPH, Assistant Scientist at icddr,b, is a clinical researcher specializing in Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and Infectious Diseases, with a strong focus on improving healthcare outcomes in resource-limited settings. Since joining icddr,b in 2014 as a Clinical Fellow, he has contributed to multiple impactful studies including the CHAIN study on acutely ill children, a clinical trial exploring non-antibiotic treatment for malnourished children, and hospital-based management training and research on COVID-19 pandemic.
His recent work includes serving as site Principal Investigator for the ACORN-HAI AMR surveillance study, as well as leading or supporting research on neonatal sepsis, maternal and newborn AMR colonization, critically ill ICU and NICU patients, Candida auris, and drug-resistant emerging fungal pathogens such as Trichophyton indotineae. He also investigated digital health interventions for early sepsis prediction and contributed to projects on non-invasive diagnostic tools, diarrheal diseases, and childhood pneumonia.
Dr. Mamun has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed publications. With experience in clinical trials, infection control, and hospital-based research, he is dedicated to developing evidence-based strategies to combat AMR and welcomes collaboration in global health, infectious disease research, and clinical epidemiology.
