Dr. López-Medina, MD, MSc, is Professor of Pediatrics at Universidad del Valle, Scientific Director of Centro de Estudios en Infectología Pediátrica, Director of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Clínica Imbanaco, Quironsalud in Cali, Colombia and scientific advisor for the International Vaccine Institute (Seoul, Korea).
Dr. López-Medina is a medical doctor and pediatric infectious disease specialist, trained at Miami Children’s Hospital and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, where he received several awards for top intern, resident, and fellow. He later earned a Master’s degree in Epidemiology from the University of London and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and completed the Global Clinical Scholars Research Training Program at Harvard University.
His main research interest relates to vaccine clinical trials, arboviral infections and infections in the immunocompromised. This interest has led to multiple observational or interventional studies and several peer-reviewed manuscripts. Dr. López-Medina has delivered hundreds of talks at national and international meetings and is currently the principal investigator or sub-investigator of nearly 20 clinical trials or observational studies in these areas.
