Dr. Emily McDonald completed her medical training at Indiana University School of Medicine and her residency training at University of California San Diego School of Medicine. She has a Master of Public Health in epidemiology and is board certified in Public Health and General Preventive Medicine. Following residency, Dr. McDonald joined CDC as a fellow in the renowned Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) applied epidemiology training program. She has been pursuing her passion for public health with CDC for the past 7 years and served in various epi and worker safety roles during the agency’s COVID-19 pandemic response. In her current position as a medical officer in the Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion, Dr. McDonald focuses on improving antibiotic use and patient safety in outpatient care through her work in the Office of Antibiotic Stewardship.
