My primary clinical/scholarly focus is preventing healthcare-associated antibiotic resistant infections and improving antibiotic prescribing among healthcare providers, through novel techniques and collaborations involving public health academic partnerships and regional partners. Recent work has focused on improving metrics of antibiotic use and antibiotic resistance, improving the use of surveillance data for action, and improving the sharing of information between healthcare facilities to reduce transmission of antibiotic resistant infections. My goal over the next five years is to solidify the HAI and stewardship research infrastructure as we build our CDC funded Prevention Epicenter (PEACH II) with my collaborator Jesse Jacob to foster short term and longer-term research activity of young investigators in the Division with collaborations across Departments, Schools, and CDC.
