Kyle P. Openo, DrPH. GA Emerging Infections Program RESP-NET Lead Investigator at Emory University School of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases. We are a CDC sponsored collaborative program between CDC, the Georgia Department of Public Health and Emory University. Our program conducts laboratory-confirmed, population surveillance for hospitalized cases of influenza, RSV and SARS-CoV-2 to estimate overall and age-specific rates of hospitalization as well as ICU admission due to these illnesses. Personally, I have worked with the GA EIP for nearly twenty years primarily focused on respiratory viral surveillance and have served in my current role as lead investigator for two and half years.
