Dr. Cirle Warren is a Research Professor at the Division of Infectious Diseases and International Health, Univeristy of Virginia. She is interested in developing novel strategies in preventing and treating enteric infections, especially Clostridioides difficile infection, and post-infection sequelae. Her laboratory investigates pharmacologic-, host- and microbiota-targeted interventions to modulate immune responses to C. difficile and its toxins, influencing disease outcomes. She co-established the Fecal Microbiota Program, focusing on the safety and outcomes of patients undergoing intestinal microbiota transplantation and directs the Complicated C. difficile Clinic at UVA Health. She co-authored the Infectious Diseases Society of America Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Infectious Diarrhea.
