Dr. Olarte is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and Pediatric Infectious Diseases specialist at Texas Children’s Hospital. She earned her medical degree from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in her native Peru. Dr. Olarte completed her pediatric residency at the University of Utah and infectious diseases fellowship training at Baylor College of Medicine, where she also obtained a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation.
Dr. Olarte’s research focuses on the impact of pneumococcal vaccines in invasive disease and colonization in children. Recent projects have sought to understand the pneumococcal colonization dynamics in different pediatric populations.
She is a member of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society Global Health Committee and Engagement & Access committee.
