Dr. Gaston is an Assistant Professor of Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology and Medical Director of the Molecular Infectious Diseases Laboratory at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC). He is trained as a clinical microbiologist as well as an adult infectious disease physician. At VUMC his clinical and research interests focus on molecular methods for infectious disease diagnostics. He co-founded and leads the Consortium for Clinical Metagenomics in Infectious Diseases (CCMID.org), a collaborative organization working to advance diagnostic sequencing for infectious diseases.
