Clinical Pharmacist - HIV Medicine
Trinity Health Grand Rapids
Ryan Tomlin serves as the Clinical Pharmacist specializing in HIV Medicine at Trinity Health Grand Rapids’ McAuley Clinic—the largest HIV care provider in West Michigan serving roughly 1,400 patients annually. His interest in HIV developed during his clinical work at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret, Kenya. While in Kenya he received the United States Public Health Service – Excellence in Pharmacy Practice Award for his contributions to the Tumaini Street Children’s Drop-In Center.
He remains deeply engaged in statewide HIV initiatives, actively collaborating with organizations such as the Michigan chapter of the Midwest AIDS Training and Education Center and the Michigan HIV/AIDS Council. He also partners with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, where he provides training on medication adherence for new case managers and presents updates on antiretroviral therapies to the Michigan HIV Drug Assistance Program Formulary Committee.
He also supports the training of future clinicians by coordinating two second-year pharmacy residency programs specializing in infectious diseases and ambulatory care. He also serves as faculty for the Corewell Health/Trinity Health Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program. For these efforts in both didactic and clinical education, he was named the 2024 Clinical Teacher of the Year by the Michigan Infectious Disease Society—the first non-physician to receive this award.
