Mohamed Hisham Basheer has been the Lead Clinical Pharmacist at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi (CCAD) for over eight years and a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University. He is a preceptor for the CCAD pharmacy internship and the ASHP-accredited PGY1 clinical pharmacy and PGY2 infectious diseases residency programs. Hisham also holds several adjunct faculty positions and participates in advisory committees for universities in the UAE and India.
He is American Board Certified in Critical Care and Infectious Diseases. Hisham earned his BPharm from Amrita School of Pharmacy in Kochi, India, and his PharmD from KMCH College of Pharmacy in Coimbatore, India. Before joining CCAD, he was the Lead Critical Care Pharmacist at Kovai Medical Center and Hospital in Tamil Nadu, India, for four years, during which he established Clinical Pharmacy Services in a 120-bed ICU.
He has over 30 peer reviewed publications, including a book on poisoning management, and has presented 40 research papers at national and international events. Hisham has delivered more than 100 invited talks at various conferences. He serves as a review editor for prominent medical journals and evaluates chapters for the American College of Clinical Pharmacy's infectious diseases program. Hisham is an Ambassador for the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS), USA. He is one of the founding directors of the Federation of Clinical Pharmacists in India (FCPI). In 2016, the Indian Society of Toxicology recognized him for his contributions to toxicology. He received the Young Intensivist Award for Best Innovative Research Paper at CRITICARE 2016 in Agra, India, and was honored as the Best Preceptor for the CCAD Pharmacy Internship Program in 2018.
