Cardiac Electrophysiologist

Alan Sugrue, MBBCh, MSc, MRCPI is a cardiac electrophysiologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Heart Rhythm at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. His clinical practice centers on device therapy for arrhythmias, including complex device implantation, lead extraction, venous occlusion management, and conduction system pacing.
Dr. Sugrue trained in medicine at the University of Galway, completed internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at Mayo Clinic, and advanced electrophysiology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.
His research is focused on innovation in cardiac device therapy, including novel approaches to leadless pacing, extravascular defibrillators, pulsed field ablation, and strategies for early detection and treatment of device infections. He has published widely in leading journals, presented at national and international meetings, and collaborates across disciplines to translate new device concepts into clinical application.
